Chicken Malai Methi
Chicken Malai Methi or Methi Malai Chicken is an Indian authentic rich chicken gravy recipe. This recipe is a preparation of chicken with Fenugreek leaves with added spices and cream or malai.
Here I have used dried fenugreek leaves fresh can also be used. This is really a very delicious recipe to taste.
It can be served as a main course. This recipe is very popular in India. Fenugreek leaves gives a very nice flavor to it. Let’s check the necessary ingredients and step by step method of cooking this recipe.
Chicken Malai Methi Recipe
Necessary Ingredients To Prepare Methi Malai Chicken:
- Chicken 800 gram,
- Coriander powder 1 tbsp,
- Chicken masala powder 1/2 tsp,
- Garam masala powder 1 tsp,
- Red chili powder 1 tsp,
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp,
- Lemon juice 1,
- Onion chopped 3 large,
- Kasuri methi or dried fenugreek leaves 2 tbsp,
- Oil 3 tbsp,
- Yogurt 1/2 cup,
- Cooking cream or fresh cream 2 tbsp,
- Salt as per taste,
- Bell pepper,
- Green Chili.
Step By Step Method Of Cooking Methi Malai Chicken:
Step One: Merinate the chicken for half an hour by adding some Ginger garlic paste, Coriander powder, redchili powder, 1 lemon juice and some turmeric powder.
Step Two: Now heat oil into a pan and add chopped onion to it and fry until onions get golden brown in color.
Step Three: Add ginger garlic paste and fry until raw flavor gone.
Step Four: Now add other spices like coriander powder, Chicken masala powder, garam masala powder, redchili powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Fry spices for a minute and add some water to avoid burning.
Step Five: Now add merinated chicken and mix evenly.
Step Six: Add salt as per taste and mix once again. Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes. Stir in-between. Flame should be medium.
Step Seven: Now open the lid. Now chicken will start release the water. At this point add yogurt and mix it nicely.
Step Eight: Cook with lid open until water gets evaporated. Stir in-between.
Step Nine: Once water gets evaporates and chicken starts releasing oil add kasuri methi or dried fenugreek leaves to it and mix.
Step Ten: Add fresh cream or cooking cream to it. Add a cup of water into it. Mix this nicely and lower the flame. Add bell pepper also and mix it. Close lid and again cook for 8 to 10 minute in low flame. Stir in-between.
Step Eleven: After 8 minutes check the chicken gravy. If you want more gravy to it then add some more water and give it to a nice boil.
Serve hot with hot steamed rice or chapati. Its extremely delicious and flavorful. Enjoy your dinner or lunch with this delicious recipe.
Note: If you don’t like to add bell pepper then you can skip this step. And the amount of gravy in this recipe would be as per your choice.
We have added bell pepper in last 10 minutes because we don’t want to loose the crispness of the vegetables.
